Spoiling The Classic

Rating : * *1/2

In spite of the great hype created and a hell lot of expectations from cinema lovers, this movie is a set back to the old "Billa".It fails to deliver any such entertainment and you cannot find any new twist in the story.
Director Vishnuvardhan is a versatile director known for his youth and experienced direction.Unlike Arindhum Ariyamalum, his previous venture,he fails to show any of his talent.

In short, this movie is a mix of the hindi Don(2006) and story wise remake of tamil Billa(1980).

Starting from the first frame :

The introduction scene of Ajith is an "already seen" Rajinikanth's style which will not san any logic when the superstar himself performs it but this time, hey, its just the "Ultimate Star".

Then comes ajith's first dialogue "Check Mate" with a south indian accent and then a slash of a sword onto cut a person's neck.

Nayanthara looks damn sexy and does some changes to your hormones. But her role in the movie is not explained properly as to how she gets caught by the police.

Namitha is just an eye wash in the movie,no use of her except for her comedy dressing and dancing.

Comparing the movie with SRK's Don,this movie can't even come closer to it.
Ajith definitely looks god damn stylish but his dialogue delivery is not upto the mark.He certainly is the best person for this role but unfortunately fails to do it properly.
There are a lot of loop holes in the movie where you can sense that the director hasn't explained few things properly. The answer to that is he hasn't thought of anything new from his own brain. The Story might seem new to few people but to those people who watch quality movies might have a bitter view of it even though it looks stylish.

The Way Jagdeesh(Rahman) comes into the police is vastly researchable and there are many unwanted glimpses of Anil(as the name of the character played in the movie) being a villianish type.
DSP Jay Prakash(Prabhu) has done quite well except for his so called intro scene where he just turns around his chair expecting a lot from the audience which he ultimately didn't get any response from the audience.

The "Sei" song is picturised beautifully and choreographed also because it is the only song where one can see something called DANCE exists in this movie.

Ajith seems to have learned his Singaporean language well using the words "CAN, CANA and LA" frequently.

Oh ya, i forgot ajith had donned a dual role. One is called Billa and the other Velu. The velu character was acted well by him and not to forget Santhanam has done a great job providing laudable comedy and to ajith "Man,he dances better than you.......so sorry to say!"

Finally, coming to the only heroes of the movie ,Yuvan Shankar Raja, the music director, and the cinematographer,Nirav Shah.Amazing background music and camera work. Those were the only plus points in the movie which made it look like a hollywood flick.

Hope you liked the review, please post comments.

sorry to say this ...just the kind of review i expected from a Vijay fan...this was a far better work than other ppl who are presenting the same old dish with different toppings....as for the story..its said its a faithfuk remake...so when u didnt question the story when superstar acted in it..there is no point in finding the loopholes now...

the way of u writing the review is good...enjoyed the others...
